‘Homai te waiora ki ahau’ The Maori proverb for ‘Give me the water of life’

New Zealand is known for our clean green lands, our rivers bringing use, animals and our land together but imagen having 80% of polluted streams and rivers. Today my class (ATN) is going to try fix that, we are going down to one of our towns local streams, rivers to test the health and safety of our waters. 🌲🌲🌲

Winding through the heart of Otaki is the waitohu streams.

This stream stretches over 54 squarilometers making it Unique as it passes through forest, rural land urban areas to the sea. Flooding is a risk in rural areas and its health is questionable due to livestocks in the streams and the spread of pest plant species. You can find 14 to 22 species of freshwater, the population size is small due to poorwater quality downstream.
